Co-Curricular Record
What is a Co-Curricular Record?
A Co-Curricular Record - or CCR - is a formal record of your involvement in clubs, organizations, volunteer work, internships, leadership roles, workshops and other extracurricular activities.
The CCR is provided by educational institutions for students and can be used to enhance your resume by highlighting your non-work-related contributions.
Why a CCR is Important
- Comprehensive Skill Development
- Beyond academic knowledge, a CCR encourages you to engage in diverse experiences that foster personal and professional growth. It acknowledges that learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom.
- Employability
- Employers increasingly seek well-rounded candidates who pssess not only academic qualifications but also practical skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to community engagement. Your CCR provides tangible evidence of these qualities.
- Graduate School Applications
- If you plan to pursue further education, like graduate studies or a professional program, your CCR can set you apart from other applicants. If showcases your dedication to holistic development.
- Networking
- Participating in extracurricular activities often leads to networking opportunities. Building relationships with peers, faculty, and community members can open doors to internships, mentoring opportunities, and career connections.
- Personal Satisfaction
- Involvement in extracurricular activities can be personally fulfilling. It allows you to explore your interests, contribute to causes you care about, and develop leadership skills.
What Activities are Recognized as part of a CCR?
In order for an activity to be recognized as a CCR, it must meet the following criteria:
Be a Validated Activity
The activity must be a volunteer or community service initiative with an identifiable link to the Lambton College Community. This includes on-campus activities, off-campus activities, and community partnerships. All activities must be authenticated by the Co-Curricular Record Coordinator or an approved validator.
Not be Required for Academic Credit
Any activity mandatory for an academic credit will not be recognized on the CCR.
Provides Meaningful Learning Opportunity
All activities must be linked to one or more Co-Curricular Record Personal Competencies.
No Monetary Exchange
Some students may be rewarded with a stipend or honourarium for their involvement, but any student employed by Lambton College will not be eligible to submit their employment opportunity as an activity to the CCR.
Meet Time Requirement
There is a one-hour minimum time requirement for CCR activities and they must be requested and approved during the same year the student participates.
Please note that in class, course related work, projects, assignments and co-op opportunities will not be reflected on this record as they may be part of the academic curriculum and recorded on the academic transcript.
