PROGRAM INFORMATION
This Board of Governors Certificate is designed to improve the knowledge and skill levels of persons working or wishing to work as estimators in the Commercial Construction Industry. Individuals who previously learned estimating skills on the job or individuals wishing to enter the construction industry would benefit from this program. Areas to be covered include the role and responsibilities of the estimator, use of tendering documents, cost planning/control, surveying, material quantities and unit costs, review specifications and take-off quantities, and preparation of bid forms. The final phase of the program is designed for students to gain the knowledge necessary to run a complete project on-site. Upon successful completion of the program students will receive a Lambton College Certificate. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSO.S.S.D. or equivalent, or 19 years of age or older. Please Note: Students must be able to receive instruction, respond and research in the English language. Program Design Courses must be completed in sequential order. All indicated prerequisites must be met prior to registering for a specific course. PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS
Courses must be taken in the order listed to complete the required prerequisites.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIESThe majority of students taking the courses are concurrently employed in the construction industry.
