PROGRAM INFORMATION

This Ontario College Certificate program provides students with the knowledge and skills required to be an effective member of a food service team in a commercial, institutional or long-term care facility. The program covers food preparation, service, nutrition and sanitation practices, customer service, communications and business skills. This course includes field placement for students without previous training in an institutional setting or job training in a food service operation. Students are required to have a valid Food Handling and First Aid/CPR certificate.

Please Note: All theory courses are available on a full and part-time basis and are offered online.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

O.S.S.D. or equivalent, or 19 years of age or older
Mature applicants must be at least 19 years of age by the start of classes and be out of secondary school for at least one year. Mature applicant testing is available in the Counselling Department. The test(s) will demonstrate equivalency in required admission subjects. For more information please contact the Counselling Department at ext 3412

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of this program may seek employment in long term-care facilities as dietary aides in institutional food service facilities.
