This is a restricted certified trade. A person must have a valid Certificate of Qualification or be registered as an apprentice to work in the trade.
This apprenticeship takes about 2 to 2.5 years or between 3,500 and 5,000 hours including 480 hours of post-secondary in-school training. This program consists of a basic and advanced level offered on a part-time basis, two evenings per week for a total of 12 hours per week, lasting 20 weeks each.
Prior education and experience may shorten the time to complete all competencies.
