Office of the Registrar / English Assessment

Office of the Registrar

To ensure placement in the appropriate English course, Lambton College uses an assessment tool called ACCUPLACER, provided by the College Board. This is a computerized placement program that gives student’s immediate feedback.

The assessment will in no way change a student’s admission to Lambton College. The results and the information provided during the process will be available only to the College Board and Lambton College, and will not be disclosed to anyone else without the student’s permission.

When to take the English Assessment

Students can take the English assessment test as early as June 15th. Students are encouraged to take this assessment before the start of the academic year as results, placement recommendations and counselling will be available once the assessment is complete.

Placement Recommendations

Placement recommendations include English 105, English 111 and Advanced Courses or Advanced Standing. Advanced courses (English 211 and English 121) vary according to program; some courses are available in the fall semester, others in the winter semester. English 105 and English 111 are available in both semesters.
