Ontario Colleges - Faculty Strike Ended

SARNIA, Ont. - Ontario’s 24 colleges announced on (Friday evening) that a resolution has been reached between Colleges’ Bargaining Team and OSPEU which will allow faculty and students to come back to school early next week.

The two parties have agreed on a process which combines mediation and arbitration of outstanding issues, to be resolved through an arbitrator.

Faculty will return to work Monday March 27.

Lambton College post-secondary students will commence classes on Wednesday, March 29.

Current apprenticeship students will commence classes on Monday April 3. Start dates for future apprenticeship classes are posted on the Lambton College website.

Continuing Education classes will start Monday evening March 27.

“We are extremely pleased that the faculty strike has ended and that full-time students will return to class on Wednesday,” said Tony Hanlon, President & CEO, Lambton College.

“We will work with our faculty so that the great majority of full-time programs at Lambton will be completed on schedule, allowing students to meet their program requirements and to move on to summer jobs and other commitments.”

The current Semester Completion Plan available on the Lambton College website will be in effect on March 29 rather than April 5, allowing for a five day “head start” to the plan.

“Full-time students are encouraged to return as soon as they can to access student services in preparation for classes beginning on Wednesday,” Hanlon said.

More details and updates will be available on the Lambton College website.
