| Course Description: |
This course is intended for industrial and municipal fire fighters and those individuals seeking a career in the fire service industry. The student will participate in both incipient and advanced level exterior fire fighting using dry chemical, water fog and foam as agents. He/she will also participate as a member of a crew wearing self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) during interior structural fire attack, ventilation and/or rescue exercises. |

| INTRODUCTION TO EXTERIOR FIRE FIGHTING |
| Course Description: |
This course is intended for industrial and municipal fire fighters and those individuals seeking a career in the fire service industry. Students will also wear SCBA on some fire suppression exercises. |

| NFPA 600 INCIPIENT III |
| Course Description: |
The goal of fire suppression training at the Incipient III level is to assure that the industrial emergency responder is provided with the minimum education and training to allow him/her to safely perform either offensive or defensive fire suppression duties utilizing fire extinguishers and low-volume handlines to attack and/or control incipient fires and to perform defensive operations from outside of the hot zone on advanced exterior fires using high-volume handlines and/or portable or fixed master stream devices. |

| NFPA 600 EVALUATION COURSE |
| Course Description: |
The goal of this course is to evaluate industrial and municipal fire fighters in their ability to deal with both hydrocarbon fire emergencies as well as interior structural fires. The objective of the course is for the participant to demonstrate control and extinguishment of flammable / combustible liquid and gas fueled fires utilizing water fog and foam as well as to safely ventilate and/or extinguish interior fires and to perform effective search and rescue exercises within a burning building. The participant will be able to demonstrate the proper use of self-contained breathing apparatus during search and rescue and interior structural fire fighting exercises. To achieve the training program goal, the student must be able to effectively demonstrate certain competencies in the practical exercises as well as achieve a minimum mark of 75% in a written quiz. Rewrites of the quiz will not be permitted.
This course is an option for attaining training in the NFPA 600 Industrial Fire Brigade Member Series—Advanced Interior/Exterior I level. It is an option only if the student has had the fire fighting training and experience that would allow him/her to qualify for the topics covered in the NFPA 600 Evaluation course. |

| INTRODUCTION TO COMMAND AND SCENE MANAGEMENT |
| Course Description: |
This course provides the industrial responder / supervisor with the basic knowledge necessary to perform duties, as a member of a team, to command an emergency scene. The participant will be able to properly describe the components of an Incident Command System (ICS) as well as the roles and responsibilities of the Incident Commander. The importance of health and safety of responders at the emergency scene and the impact of hazardous incidents on the work environment are emphasized. |

NOTE: Lambton College reserves the right to cancel any courses with full refund of registration fee. Individuals may cancel registrations up to four weeks prior to training start date with a full refund. Registrations cancelled between the second and fourth week prior to training start date are subject to a minimum administration service charge of 10% of the course fee. Course seats cancelled one week or less prior to the start of the course will not be subject to any fee refund. Payment for courses is required in advance of training and upon receipt of an invoice.
To all course fees add 13% HST. These courses may also be subject to an additional per student FUEL SURCHARGE depending on the cost of fuel in 2011.

NOTE: Incipient level fires do not require the use of SCBA or thermal protective clothing during fire suppression activities.
Advanced level fires require thermal protective clothing and may also require SCBA to be worn by the fire fighter during fire suppression activities. Thermal protective clothing and SCBA are provided by the Fire School.
