What are my funding options?
Depending on whether you’re a First Nations, Inuit or Métis student, your funding options are slightly different:
First Nations/Inuit Students – Contact your respective First Nations Post-Secondary Education Department. If funding is available, you will need to fill out a college application and retain the receipt for application fee reimbursement.
Métis Students – Contact the Métis Nation of Ontario office in Windsor (1-800-459-8850), but if you already have a Métis Card call 1-800-263-4889.
If funding is not available, you can apply for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).When is the Aboriginal funding application due?
Most applications are due in May of each year for September start dates. Does the college offer upgrading?
Lambton College does offer an academic upgrading program. Please visit the Academic Upgrading section of our website for more details.Do you offer Native programming?
Yes, we offer the General Arts & Science – Degree Preparation program. Upon completion of this program with the required grade point average, Aboriginal students are guaranteed admission into The University of Western Ontario or University of Windsor
Native-specific skilled trades training courses/programs are offered if a particular First Nations community makes the request. The training may be offered on-site at your First Nations community or at the college. Do you have Native housing?
Lambton College has a on-campus general student residence. Visit the Residence page to download an application form or to find out more about the facilities.Do you have daycare on campus?
Lambton College has an on-campus Early Childhood Education Centre.
Aboriginal students may also be interested in enrolling their children at Little Friends Child and Family Development Centre. This centre opened in February 2009 and focuses on Aboriginal culture and traditions within an early learning framework. You can contact the centre at 519-339-0945 or stop by for a visit at 295 Essex Street.How do I apply to the Ojibwe Language Basics course?
The Ojibwe Language Basics course will run only if enough students are interested. For more information contact the Part-Time Studies department at 519-542-775 ext 3629.

I was busy being a mom to three small children. However, once they started in the Head Start Program at the daycare, I really wanted to do something constructive with my free time. I heard about the Pre-Apprenticeship Horticulture program being offered to Aboriginal people. I applied and was accepted into the program.
